HI-TEA Dry Run
So Wednesday was wet cycling. Now after a break of one day, we're back in Chinatown for a dry run. Or so it's supposed to be.. turns out it's not very dry.
But here we come anyway, answering the call of help from our Farrago brethens. It's their annual event, and this year they're coming up with a food trail programme. Fun and foods galore!! Need help?? The good souls at Clementi are always ready to provide their service...especially when there's food.
Here we are waiting for the games to start. Even Daniel is here. But well...not that surprising, given that Wenqi is from Farrago (*hehs*). If you're sharp enough, you can see Jingxiu and Qimin sitting right at the back.
So let's follow one group, as they embark on this not very dry run through Chinatown...
The game got going and each group was provided a map and a starting clue. The idea is to make sense of the clue, which will point to a location marked on the map. Go there, play a game, eat something, get a clue, and the whole process repeats itself.
Here's Djaya analysing the map. No doubt he has already worked out the shortest distance between each game station, the work done in the process, and the calories of food we need to get the required energy.
And so with the Laughing Buddha protecting and guiding them, it's not long before they found their way to Statue of the Laughing Buddha (which also doubles up as a donation box)! First station and all smiles =)
From left: Sam, Ching Ting, Peiling (from Farrago), Djaya, and Alice (also from Farrago)
Look what they found! Dogs! Cute dogs!!
But Djaya isn't very happy. The extra effort spent taking photos means 30J of energy, and hence, 90kcal more calories are needed. Sinful!
Djaya churning his brain juice for this spot the differences game. Try spotting the difference in grade points between Djaya's modules. (answer: no difference... everything 5 points! =) )
It's Djaya again. Our 5-pointer and Clementi's pride. He's the star of the moment. Here, he's doing up a jigsaw puzzle.
Here's the completed puzzle.
Djaya isn't pointing at the black car. The group is signing "MAZDA", the brand of the red car, and Djaya happens to be the one signing "z".
It isn't long before the trail leads them back to the ending point at Chinatown station. But if you think that's the end of the adventure, be in for a rude shock..
Back at Chinatown station, Farragoian Yew Meng is planning a nasty surprise for everyone. Well you see...one of the food station happens to be a Korean supermart. Fascinated by the shop, Yew Meng combed through every shelf looking for anything interesting or exotic. And this is what he found:
Silk worms! Canned silk worms. In fact, canned soya silk worms!! Thrilled from his new discovery, Yew Meng goes around sharing his joy....and the food...if you call that food...
Sam looks quite happy and obliging to gobble down the worm. Behind, Yanting (Farrago) looks on with disgust.
Priscilla is next to try. A very adventurous and courageous gal, she's always willing to try new things. But she wasn't very prepared mentally for what goes into her mouth...so it ended up like this:
A pretty unglam picture of her! Haha.. it's not often you get to see an unglam Pris, so this is a nice catch... oops... ;-)
Kok Ping enjoys being served... I'm not sure if he likes the worm though...
But he looks very much lost...
Xinyi is next in line..and by the time the stuff went into her mouth, it's too late to regret..
But with a little help swallowing the monster, she managed to pull through unscathed
Well...thankfully the Silk Worm Saga ended, and it's time for the debrief.
Spotted in this pic are: Sam, Sweeling (partly hidden by Zhicheng), Zhicheng, Djaya, Hengky, Sin Hang, Ching Ting, Kok Ping, Priscilla, and Siew Yin.
A wonderful event it was with some nice foods and great games, although the weather threatened to ruin our day once more. And thanks to Yew Meng for adding a touch of fear factor as well. Kudos to the organising committee and we wish them all the best in having a successful HI-TEA on 17th Feb!!
