Gong Hei Fat Choy!~~ An early Chinese New Year Reunion for RSPHI
Gong Hei Fat Choy!! (cantonese: a wishing for fortune and prosperity used during Chinese New Year.)
It's the annual RSPHI CNY reunion dinner again! Unfortunately, due to the renovation works in SADeaf, the event would be held in West Coast Park instead. Maybe a slight loss of meaning and significance here, since SADeaf can be considered part of our roots. But nonetheless, it's the company, mood and spirit that matters, and on this celebratory day, there is plenty of joy to go around.Kok Ping, Hengky, Sam and Xuefen (yes.. the boss's weekly patrol took her to Clementi today.) headed down to West Coast Park right after tuition to collect the food and set up the pits. The rest mingled around for half an hour before the bus arrived on schedule to ferry them down to the park.
On the bus....
Ching Ting dabbles with her phone, while Enchen munch away (hey...we're going for dinner soon ok? -.-'"). And that's Ching Ting's kid, Samuel, enjoying the scenery.
Benjamin (no! not the volunteer from Kallang!) strikes an 'obedient boy' posture for the shot. On the right is his brother, Samuel, lost in his own world, playing with Ching Ting's handphone. (Now you know what Samuel is doing in the previous pic...)
Jingxiu and Liqin showing us how much they love the bus ride.
Djaya laughed, turned around and laughed, and basically smiled through the entire journey.
Siew Yin, Swee Ling and Priscilla
Ming Ruey and her tutee, Yiting. Ming Ruey looks really tired after the tuition.
Frome left: Liana, Jue Ying, Vanessa and Adeline
Zhou Meng (2nd from left) and Ivy (far right) all smiles with their girlfriends (whose names we, unfortunately, don't know)
Zhicheng...
...is now officially Cheng Papa. Centrehead by name, nanny by profession. And look how happy the kid is to get to ride on Cheng Papa's back.
The kids decided to give Cheng Papa a break and help Ching Ting Jiejie carry the big box. So nice!
Adeline holding an umbrella as Yiting gives the camera a smile.

*Note: This photo is rated PG. Do not try this without parental guidance. Do not try AT ALL!
Shaun playing with fire. Justus (Kallang) demonstrates his superhuman ability by touching the fire with his bare hand.
The rain did nothing to douse the flames of BBQ or our passion. But it did managed to force the bulk of us underground.
Actual BBQ started abit late though, partly due to the rain, but mainly due to the delivery man, who was so kind to deliver the food all the way to NTU. We're in WCP for goodness sake! NTU is where we're from, and SAC is the address of our club! Not the place we're having BBQ!!
Despite the late start, our stomachs managed to survive..and not long after, food is being served.
As tutors, we should always take care of our tutees first. The food Sam and Djaya are gathering are seriously for the tutees, not for them!
Cheng Papa redistributing the charcoals.
As a papa, you have to take care of your children's every need. This includes braving fires, heat, smoke, and charcoals. Cheng Papa shows a positive demonstration here. Good job!
Ching Ting wondering if the satay is ready. Benjamin looks bored having been denied the chance to smoke his own satay. Well...kids shouldn't play with fire.
Kok Ping with some cooked satays (satays again....). Benjamin managed to get his hands on 'penging' some satays with close attention from Jingxiu (right) and Hengky.
Samuel is just too small to be barbequeing his own food, so Zhan Zhi drags him away.Busy busy busy...Yet again, we were faced with bad weather. But Clementi has handled enough rainy BBQs not to be daunted by such a small challenge. The BBQ culminated with the Birthday celebration of our dear boss, Xuefen!!
Happy 21st Birthday!! And she received some personalised present courtesy of Kek.9.30pm. Bus came, and it's time to send the tutees back. Sam acted as chauffeur and sent Ching Ting, Enchen, Samuel and Benjamin home.
Tata~~ and that's the end of a wonderful night of BBQ..
Thumbs up: Zhicheng becoming Cheng Papa. =)
Thumbs down: The rain and the delivery man =(
Catch of the day: The chilli sotong was a firm favourite. The tender and fresh sotongs mix in perfectly with the spicy chilli sauce to give a wonderful taste after being smoked. Heavenly when served hot!!Once again, Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!and Happy 21st Birthday to Xuefen!!Labels: bbq, chinese new year, cny, new year, reunion, wcp, west coast
